The Hessische Kulturstiftung places studios in New York, Paris, London and soon also in Istanbul at its grant recipients’ disposal.
New York
A combined living and working studio is located in the vicinity of the New York Swiss Institute – Contemporary Art in Hudson Street in the Tribeca district of Manhattan. On the top floor of a five-storey residential and office building, the Hessische Kulturstiftung grant recipients have a 95-square-metre flat with a living and working room, kitchen and bathroom at their disposal.
Public transportation: Subway lines 1, 2 and 3 direction South Ferry / Chambers Street; Franklin Street station.
Paris
In Paris, the living and working studio of the Hessische Kulturstiftung is to be found within the Cité Internationale des Arts complex in the Rue de l’Hôtel de Ville. Covering 65 square metres, a combined living/bedroom, working room, kitchen and bathroom are spread out over two floors. At the Cité Internationale des Arts, located in the direct vicinity of the Centre Pompidou and the Musée du Louvre, the grant recipients have all of the facilities of the large artists’ residence at their disposal, for example printing workshops, a computer room and a darkroom.

Hôtel de Ville and Saint Paul stations.
London
The studio house is located in Lyal Road in the district of Bow on the east side of London. The two-storey row house with altogether 110 square metres of useable surface is equipped with two combined working/bedrooms, a kitchen, an attic room and a cellar. Behind the house is a small garden. A number of important galleries such as Whitechapel and Chisenhale are located in the adjacent districts of Hoxton, Hackney and Bethnal Green, where a young art and culture scene has established itself over the past years.
Public transportation: Underground Circle Line; Mile End station / Bus line 8, direction Old Ford; Roman Road / Lyal Road station.
Rotterdam
The studio in Rotterdam has been closed since the summer of 2011.
Istanbul
The Hessische Kulturstiftung will be offering a studio grant in Istanbul beginning in 2013.
