Giving: Donations or Endowment Contributions

The Cultural Foundation of Hesse (Hessische Kulturstiftung) is an independent institution of the state of Hesse, with its own business offices. Supporting measures and the business offices are operated using income from the foundation’s capital.

The foundation creates value by preserving and maintaining cultural property for our museums, disseminating historical knowledge in modern, everyday language in order to also reach the younger generation and offering scholarships to young artists for their further professional development. Many people gladly take part in the rich and varied offerings in our region and wish to give something back.

There are two ways to give: through a donation or by making an endowment contribution to the Hessische Kulturstiftung.

Endowment contributions enhance the long-term stability of the foundation by increasing the amount of foundation assets and ensuring the long-term fulfilment of the purpose of the foundation.

Because the Cultural Foundation of Hesse (Hessische Kulturstiftung) only operates and supports the arts using income from the invested capital, the value of the endowment contribution is preserved and provides supports or is used to actively develop new projects.

Your donations can be made to a specific supporting measure of your choice – such as acquisitions for a collection or other preservation measures – or donations are used within a specified period of time for selected cultural and art projects.

Both ways of giving make it possible for you to support the foundation and its projects. You can be involved in determining what should be done with your donation or endowment contribution.

Since its founding in 1988 as a not-for-profit organisation, the Cultural Foundation of Hesse (Hessische Kulturstiftung) has been authorised to issue donation receipts. We guarantee that 100 percent of your donation or endowment contribution will be dedicated to fulfilling our objectives as a foundation.

Note:
Donations by German citizens of up to 20 per cent of their annual income have been tax-deductible since 2007.
Benefactors may claim a tax deduction for endowment contributions of up to €1 million (for married couples: per person) as a single gift or distributed over up to ten years.
