subsidies

Since its foundation by the Hessian government in 1988, the Cultural Foundation of Hesse (Hessische Kulturstiftung) has been offering financial support to non-governmental and non-for-profit organisations (NGO) working in the visual arts and related forms of culture. Museums, libraries and archives may receive funding for tasks as diverse as scientific research projects or documentaries, exhibitions and acquisitions of selected works of art. During the past three decades Hessische Kulturstiftung has thus helped to promote some 690 projects with a budget of €46 million in total. These subsidies were used for the complementation of public collections with distinguished contemporary and historic art, precious manuscripts or rare material for archives, for temporary shows with historical or artistic contents or for catalogues and research-based documentation and projects of education.
Applications for funding may be sent by publicly accessible museums in Hesse, art societies, libraries and archives. Hessische Kulturstiftung is offering subsidies either as a tripartite or to cover a shortage of funding of the project. Please download the guidelines for application at “downloads”.
